Description |
A theodolite with lid and manual. The main apparatus (part a) is black and brass with various scopes, levels, cranks and dials. The top has a telescope like body with eyepiece at one end and glass lens at the other. There is a level at the top with a white body with clear fluid inside. The level has red coloured markings. There is a circular shaped wheel on the side that is stationary to a lower circular base. The side of the wheel has a silver marking section that rotates as the telescope body moves. The centre circular base has a clear dial in the centre with text "N E S W" with two hands pointing in direction. There are two white level tunes along with two white flaps that cover more directional numbers. The base has a brass coloured cog wheel that supports four silver dials and the black base. The apparatus sits on a cast iron circular base that has a leather pouch attached, and silver and black dial knob and maker's tag that reads "Stadia Hairs - Ratio 1:100 - Constant 0 feet". The apparatus is protected by a dome like lid (part b). The lid has a cylindrical shaped body with curved top. There are two clips along the sides that attach to the cast iron base. There is a leather strap attached to the clips that follow along the curved edge creating a carrying strap. There is a paper tag on the inside of the lid reading "C.M. Survey Supply Ltd. - Serviced" with handwritten notes. There is also another leather pouch on the inside of the lid. There is a paper manual (part c) that sits inside the lid. |
