Description |
A Canadian Military cap. The hat is made from a coarse cotton which is olive green in colour. Crown of hat is shallow and is oval in shape, with the points facing the front and back. Running along the band is a piece of material the same as the crown. The band material is tapered; the front is smaller in width than the back, and there is an upraise along the side. Material is fastened in the front by two small round brass buttons. Buttons have two concentric circles in the centre with a crown on top of the outer circle. In the centre of the inner circle is a maple leaf. At the top is "CANADA". The sweatband is made of a light green canvas like material is lined with the same material, just black in colour. Stamped onto the inside is "SIZE 7 1/4" and some other text which is smeared and illegible. |

The military cap was worn by Capt. R.D MacDonald who served in the Canadian Forces from 1942-1946. Captain MacDonald served with the infantry as well as the chaplaincy. Between 1972 and 1980 R.D MacDonald served as minister in Tolmie Presbyterian Church in Port Elgin and Knox Presbyterian Church in Burgoyne. |
