Description |
Set of three mounted military medals. Medal ribbons are sewn onto a black cotton-like material, using green and red thread. Protruding through the black backing is a white metal pin mechanism. The first medal (starting from the proper left) is the War Medal 1939-45. The ribbon has seven stripes; red, blue, white, red, white, blue, red. The medal is attached to the ribbon by a single claw non-swivel suspender. On the obverse is a crowned King George VI. On the reverse is a lion standing over top of a two-headed dragon. The middle medal is the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. The ribbon has five stripes; green, red, dark blue, red, green. The obverse has seven people ( men and women) marching in different uniforms together. Around the outside is: " Voluntary *Service* Voluntaire, 1939 Canada 1945". On the reverse is the Canadian coat-of-arms. The third medal is the Defence Medal. The ribbon has seven stripes; green, black, green, orange, green, black, green. The medal is attached to the ribbon by a single claw, non-swivel suspender. The obverse has an uncrowned King George VI. The reverse has a large crown over an oak tree. The oak tree is flanked by two lions. At the bottom is "THE DEFENCE MEDAL" |
