Description |
A black cape with layers of sequin and ruffles. The cape sits around one's shoulders and has a hook clasp at the front of the neck. There is a plain black satin bow at the front of the neck area where the collar is. The bow seems to give a "tie" appearance when it is hooked closed. There are two other hook clasps below to keep the front closed. The entire cape is black with a mesh type material as the base with several layers of silk ruffles with a row of sequin at the top. The pattern runs horizontally with repeating layers of black satin ruffle with a row of sequin above it. There is a black chiffon layer at the bottom that has a scalloped edge. The inside of the cape has a black cotton lining. |
Provenance |
The cape belonged to the donor's mother Velda Margaret Douglas (nee Thornton) of Teeswater. |
