Description |
A wood plaque with silver plate crest nailed to the front. The silver plate is a shield/crest shape with text and imagery engraved. The top has black text that reads "Presented To/Pte Hymmen H G/In the service of Peace/With United Nations Forces/By/3 PPCLI". There is a Canadian flag on the proper right side. There is a blue image below of a soldier with laurel leaves and a UN flag. Below the blue image is black text that reads "Cyrus 1975/76". The plate is mounted on a light brown/walnut wood backing that is the same shape. The plate is mounted by three small nails. The top of the wooden base has an brass oval hook for hanging. The back of the wood mount is plain wood. |

The plaque was given to Chief Warrant Officer Harvey George Hymmen of Port Elgin who served in the Canadian Armed Forces with the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry and later the Grey-Simcoe Foresters. He served from 1973/74 until 1989 and was overseas during Cyprus and Gaza Strip conflicts with the United Nations forces. He was appointed Regimental Sergeant Major while serving with the Grey-Simcoe Foresters. |
