Description |
A white circular badge for the Southampton Tennis Club. The badge has a main circle with a rectangular banner above it. The banner reads "Southampton" in gold stitching. Below the banner in the circle area there is an image of a lighthouse in red stitching with yellow beams of light. Underneath the lighthouse there are two tennis rackets crossed together. Underneath the rackets in blue capital letters is "TENNIS". Beside the rackets are two gold leaf designs. The back of the badge has a plastic hard glaze coating where the badge could be pressed on with high heat. |

The item was donated from the Southampton Tennis Club who celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2006. Membership in the Southampton Tennis Club ("STC") began in 1956 at around 125 members. Membership broke 500 by the mid-1960s, and grew to over 1,500 members in 2005. The club continues to operate. |
