Description |
A black cast iron box stove. Stove is rectangular in shape with a thin rectangular platform decorated with arabesques at the front. At front is a small square hinged door. The sides and door are decorated with inset sqaures with a plant motif. The top of the stove is flat and has two round holes. One hole has a round lid with upraised circles, while the other has a decorative top. Stamped into the body is "PAT"D 1861, F". |

In 1861, this stove was manufactured in Southampton in a foundry at the corner of Grosvenor and Union Lane. After the one stove was manufactured the foundry was discontinued. This stove was used in Southampton's Masonic Lodge, St. Lawrence Lodge No.131. |
