Object Name |
Quilt, Bed |
Description |
One handmade piecework quilt. Quilt is made of silk and consists of squares of seven multi-coloured stripes and different silk materials. The colours, black, white, purple, red and green are dominate throughout. The outer edge is white with a soft blue silk edging. |
Provenance |
This pattern, known as Fence Rail, is a variation of the Log Cabin pattern, and like the light and dark variation of the pattern, does not contain the central red square. The name, Fence Rail, is an example of settler experiences and cultural landscapes being reflected within Bruce County's quilting tradition. |
