Description |
A Canadian Military uniform belt. The belt is made from canvas, and the outside edge is painted a light green. The canvas on the inside of the belt is a light brown. The buckles are made from brass. Buckles on the proper left is a large circle with a rectangular hole in the centre. Along the outer edge at the bottom is "PRO PATRIA". The proper right buckle is a small solid circle. Within the circle is a crown with "VRI" beneath. At the back centre are two brass rectangular buckles. On the inside of the belt in large font is "R.D. MacDONALD" in blue ink. |
Provenance |
The belt was worn by Captain R.D MacDonald during the Second World War. Captain MacDonald served with the Canadian Forces from 1942-1946 in both the infantry and chaplaincy. Between 1972 and 1980 R.D MacDonald served as minister in Tolmie Presbyterian Church in Port Elgin and Knox Presbyterian Church in Burgoyne. |
