Description |
A small dark green leather chaise lounge chair for dolls. The chair is rectangular shaped with a slight angled pillow section at one end. The green leather is wrapped on both sections and nailed on the ends. The leather is dark green in coloured with a faint black marbled effect. There are four rounded button style feet at each corner on the bottom. The bed is divided in half with a hinge and can be opened. Inside there are two compartments that are wooden and covered in fabric. The fabric is light blue with pink and white flowers with brown arabesque designs. There are several small nails holing the leather to the fabric around the edges. There is a small silver metal nail where the compartment opens. |
Provenance |
The doll bed belonged to Annie Pearl Kobe (Pearl), who was born June 27, 1927, in Bentick Township. She married Allister MacKay, son of Alexander MacKay and Mary Alice Courtney, February 17, 1949. After marriage they lived on a farm on Lot 2, Concession 6, Huron Township. Pearl brought the doll bed with her to the farm after her marriage. Donor remembers as a child that they were not allowed to play with it, so thought it must have been very treasured to have been kept for so long. |
