Description |
Bonnet chest or dresser with mirror. Chest is rectangular in shape and has a flat top surface. Top half of dresser is slightly larger than the bottom and hangs over. Front feet are decorative and have two inlaid decorative pieces attached to them that run down each side. In the larger top piece there is a large square drawer on each side and two small rectangular drawers stacked atop one another in the centre. Centre drawers have small inlaid birds. Drawer handles are black and drop shaped. On the outer sides of the large drawers are panels with an inlaid tree. In the bottom section are three long rectangular drawers with inlaid diamonds in the centre. Handles are the same as those on the top. The mirror frame is large and has undercurled scalloped edges down the sides. Near the top on each side there are two vertical spindles. The top of the mirror frame is domed and has small knobs emitting from it. Just below the domed top is "J. P. KLEMPP, MAKER" in inlaid lettering. The mirror in the centre is rectangular in shape and has an inlaid diamond pattern surrounding it. The mirror brackets to hold mirror to base are plain and made of dark wood. |
