Description |
A red and white signature quilt. The quilt has a white background with red crosses in each square block. There are six square blocks along the top and seven blocks along the side making it a total of 42 blocks. There are signatures in rows of four positioned diagonally in between each arm of the cross. The quilt has a red border. |
Provenance |
Made by the West Arran Patriotic League in 1916, this quilt boasts 668 names. Included in those names are soldiers, mostly representing the A Company of the 160th Bruce Battalion, members of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for North Bruce, Oxford North, and Bruce West, the Member of Parliament representing North Bruce, as well as the Premier of Ontario, William Howard Hearst, who was from Arran Township. |
