Description |
One hammer-shaped postmark stamp. Stamp has a metal cylindrical head attached to a metal rod with a wooden handle. The face of the stamp is circular and contains text that reads: " HARRISBURG & SOUTHAMPTON M.C. -- T1S -- MR25 -- 07". It would be used by the post office to nullify postage and mark the envelope with information about the date and place at which it was mailed. |

This postmark stamp was used by the Harrisburg & Southampton Railway Post Office (RPO). This RPO operated from 1897 to 1917 along the Grand Trunk Railway between Harrisburg and Southampton, via Galt, Guleph, and Palmerston. |
