Description |
One Canada General Service Medal (1866-1870). Medal is round in shape and made of silver. On the obverse is a bust of Queen Victoria with "VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX" around it. The initials "T.B" are below the Queen. The reverse has a laurel of maple leaves with a Dominion of Canada flag. At the top is "CANADA". Stamped into the rim is "Cpl. S. McLean, 1st Kincardine I Co.". |
Provenance |
This medal was awarded to Samuel McLean of Kincardine for his part in the first Fenian Raids in 1866. Corporal McLean served with the Kincardine Company of the 32nd Bruce Battalion/32nd Bruce Regiment. Though service took place in 1866, the Canada General Service medal was not commissioned until January of 1899. |
