Archie began using the oven at the back of the Burns Brothers Bakery on High Street (161 High St.) in Southampton in 1943. He continued to use the oven there after the store became the Doran Hardware store in 1945, and sold his baked goods through other retail outlets until he opened his own store two doors west (157 High St.). Archie was a real estate agent ca. 1983 in Southampton under the name A.W. Perkins. He operated his real estate business on the same site on High St. that Perkins Bakery (157 High St.) once sat before the bakery burnt down in February 1970. |
