Description |
One oil painting on metal tile (possibly tin). Frame is made of wood an is stained a dark colour - the grain of the wood is varied in colour and appears mottled. The frame has a gold coloured fillet. The proper left top corner of the frame has a section of loss. Background of the painting depicts a stormy sky, and an Imperial lighthouse amid trees is depicted in the mid-ground on the proper right. In the foreground is a man in a rowboat, moving towards three men clinging to timbers in stormy waters. |

This painting was created by Elizabeth Mary (Parsille) Lambert, the wife of Captain William Lambert, Lightkeeper of the Chantry Island Lighthouse in 1906. It is thought to depict Captain Lambert rescuing the crew of the schooner Cavalier, which wrecked August 31st, 1906. |
