William Henry McCurdy was born in August of 1891 in Vesta, Bruce County, Ontario. On February 12, 1916, William enlisted with 160 Battalion "A" Company. During World War I, he served in both England and France. William owned and operated McCurdy's Tire Shop and McCurdy's Appliances, Sporting Goods and Television in Chesley. He was the first President of the Chesley Branch 144 of the Canadian Legion and was a member for a period of nineteen years. On February 7, 1948, William passed away. |
